Population Research Interest Group Graduate Student Paper Award

The Population Research Interest Group of the Rural Sociological Society is soliciting submissions for a graduate student paper award in the areas of rural demography and population studies. The paper should be related to the broad interests of the Population Research Interest Group. Current graduate students and recent graduates (who received their degrees no earlier than May 2013) may apply. Co-authored papers are acceptable as long as all of the authors were graduate students at the time the paper was written and submitted.

The recipient will receive a monetary prize of $300 that will help to defray part of the cost of registering for and attending the 2014 RSS Annual Meeting in New Orleans (July 30-August 3, 2014). The recipient will also be recognized at the Population Research Interest Group business meeting. To be considered for this award, there is a two-step process. 1) Submit an abstract to present the paper at the annual meeting of the Rural Sociological Society (online registration will begin January 13, 2014). 2) Send an electronic copy of the full paper with contact information to: Shannon Monnat (smm67@psu.edu) by March 3, 2014.

The paper submission should not exceed 35 double-spaced pages (including all tables, graphs, and references) in a standard font (12 point).
