Doctoral or Post-doctoral, Cornell University
Doctoral or post-doctoral research opportunity at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, addressing GHG mitigation in US agriculture with a specific focus on nitrogen and policy processes. The frameworks used in the project to address the science-policy interface derive from environmental sociology, political sociology of science, and environmental policy. While the work is largely focused around national agrienvironmental policy dynamics in the USA, other scales of analysis of carbon governance may include global level, commodity systems, and case studies of localized pilot projects seeking to demonstrate the relevance of payment for ecosystem service-like schemes. Both quantitative and qualitative methods will be relevant. In addition to environmental sociology, the team features agroecology, biogeochemistry and ecosystem modeling expertise. The research is funded under an interdisciplinary climate change award from USDA-AFRI. The appointment is scheduled to begin in August 2013.
