International Congress on Sociology of Law and Political Action
From September 3 to 6, 2013 will take place in Toulouse the international congress on Sociology of Law and Political Action, (ISA/RCSL). Pietro Saitta (University of Messina) and Ilaria Lazzerini (University of Milan) solicit contributions for the following workshop: ”Environment and the Law: Popular Struggles, Popular Epidemiology and other Forms of Resistance ‘from Below’ in Worldwide Areas at Risk”. This workshop aims at exploring how lay-actors’ reactions to environmental manipulations attempted by states and corporations challenge the law, the policies concerning the development of the areas, the notion of general interest, citizenship, etc. In particular, postcolonial reflections on the relations between space, “development” and the law are welcomed. Finally, the workshop is open to any kind of method, but it especially favours qualitative and ethnographic investigations on the subject.
