The Department of Health Policy and Administration (HPA) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applicants in an open rank search for a tenured Associate or Full Professor or a tenure-track Assistant Professor in a discipline relevant to HPA. This includes, but is not limited to, population health, global health, demography, sociology, social psychology, health services research, health systems science, dissemination and implementation science, public health, social epidemiology, political science, and public policy.

We particularly value candidates with innovative methodological approaches to research. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to improving health care services and the health of populations through research, teaching and service. The faculty member will advise students in doctoral, master's, and/or bachelor's degree programs.

At the Associate or Full Professor level, we seek a colleague who has established a national reputation in their research. Competitive applicants will have a doctoral degree and a demonstrated ability to conduct research in a multi-disciplinary setting, including a track record for securing external research funding from diverse sources and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities. We particularly value faculty who have successfully led collaborative research teams and those that have mentored junior faculty.

At the Assistant Professor level, we seek a colleague that has completed or is close to completing doctoral training. Competitive applicants will have the demonstrated ability to conduct research in a multi-disciplinary setting and show potential for securing external research funding and establishing professional prominence in a relevant line of scholarship. A candidate must have completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree when employed.

The Department of HPA and the College of Health and Human Development embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion as core values in both its mission and vision. Our goal is to empower a broadly diverse generation to become leaders and scholars who promote human health, development, and quality of life throughout the lifespan. Compensation will be commensurate with professional experience but as a major research university, Penn State is among the most competitive in the nation and known for compensation and benefits packages that attract faculty of the highest caliber. Both compensation and non-salary elements of the compensation package are highly competitive, and the position itself is a fully funded, “hard-money” position. Penn State has excellent support services available to faculty members and the College of Health and Human Development and the HPA department is committed to providing the necessary resources critical to helping the successful candidate further their research prominence. We envision the successful applicant as a key component of the department's growth strategy.
