Gustolab International is accepting applications for their summer study abroad courses and their academic internship program in Italy. Students from all disciplines and universities are welcome to apply!

Critical Studies on Food in Italy - Food Systems and Sustainability

DURATION: SUMMER 4-week Full Immersion Program
WHEN: Monday, May 25 – Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Students may choose from a range of courses including:
  •     Critical Studies on Food
  •     Food Media, Communication and Trends
  •     Food, Nutrition and Culture in Italy
  •     Food Waste in Italy
  •     Italian Language for Food and Business (Italian Lexicon for Food Studies)
  •     Elementary Italian Language
  •     Intensive Elementary Italian Language

Students can add on a month-long Academic Internship Program

DURATION: 4 weeks, Summer (Longer periods available for Spring and Fall Semesters)
WHEN: June 20 – July 20, 2020
WHERE: Italy, Multiple locations available
Their internships are customized according to the needs and interests of students.  Interns will also participate in a research symposium and carry out a research project. Language instruction is provided.  No prior study of Italian is required, but in that students spend most of their time at the intern site, most interns acquire basic Italian skills.

Students can also apply to their Fall Program - Food in Italy: Sustainable Markets, Products and Processes
DURATION: Fall Semester Full Immersion Program
WHEN: September 4 – December 12, 2020
WHERE: Rome, Italy

All their programs provide experiential learning opportunities and connections to a network of experts in the Food Systems and Sustainability Fields.



Their programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students, independent scholars, professionals and researchers.

Deadline to apply for the Summer, Italy Program and Internship Program: Extended to February 29, 2020.
Deadline to apply for the Fall, Italy Program: March 15, 2020.
Applicants are encouraged to apply by the recommended deadline, as there are several advantages to doing so including receipt of an admissions decision early enough to allow for sufficient travel planning time to save on airline tickets, and sufficient visa processing time for international students.
