Rural Sociological Society
Call for Abstracts for International Development and Studies RIG Sessions
2020 Annual Meeting
Rurality and Crises of Democracy
6-9 August 2020 - Westminster, Colorado, USA

Hosted by: International Development and Studies (IDEaS) Research Interest Group

IDEaS’s mission is to expand the knowledge of rural sociologists through interactions with scholars and organizations serving rural people and places throughout the world. This includes comparative and theoretical work informed by the diverse scholarship and histories of rural areas in all countries. Our work includes understanding the complexities of international migration flows, the situations faced by refugees, poverty and inequality, health, sustainability, development initiatives, and the policies and practices that enhance people’s lives.

We are seeking paper abstracts for IDEaS sessions. Recognizing the difficulty our international scholars can have in processing paperwork in order to attend the annual meeting, we are seeking early abstracts from those scholars who anticipate needing additional lead time in securing travel documents. We will also accept abstracts during the regularly scheduled RSS abstract submission timeframe (1 November 2019 – 3 February 2020).

Deadline for early submission: 31 October 2019

Notification of acceptance/rejection: 15 November 2019 (accompanied by formal letter for paperwork processing needs).

Information to include in abstracts submission:

  • Authors names, email addresses, and university or professional affiliation (indicate a corresponding author and whether each author is faculty, student, other)
  • Title
  • Keywords
  • Abstract (no more than 500 words)
  • Information needed by RSS Business Office for travel documentation purposes
