Privacy Statement: RSS collects personal membership information to enable us to facilitate communication between the society and its members, and to better describe our association, in aggregate, to the public. All personal data are confidential. RSS does not release members' electronic addresses to non-members. Your participation is voluntary.

 

Professional/Life:

Life and Professional members receive all benefits and publications and in addition, they vote, may serve on committees and hold elected office.

Sustaining Member:

A new category of membership, the Sustaining Member. Receive the same benefits of a Professional member and may select one of the three RSS endowment funds for contributions.

New Professional:

A new category, New Professional, is for individuals who have earned their last degree within the last 3-years and/or earn under $35,000 USD annually; this category cannot be used more than 3-years in total. Receives the same benefits as a Professional member.

Professional without Journal:

Persons who choose this category have all the benefits of Professional members, but waive the right to receive the RURAL SOCIOLOGY journal.

Emeritus:

Persons are eligible for Emeritus membership at 65 years and/or retirement from primary workplace, providing that they have been members of RSS for five years. Emeritus members have the same benefits as Professional members and may attend the Annual Meeting for a reduced registration fee. Emeritus status is self-designated.

International Associate:

Must reside outside the United States and Canada and not be a United States or Canadian citizen. Receive all the benefits of Professional membership but are not eligible to vote or hold office.

Student:

Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in accredited institutions may select this membership category as long as they are full-time students. Student members of RSS receive all benefits of membership, and are eligible to vote. They may also serve on committees.
