When you donate to one of the funds of the RSS, every dollar goes to assist scholars in need.

The RSS Endowment Fund is sustained solely by contributions from members. The awards that come from this fund are designed to promote and enhance the professional growth of rural sociologist members who have received their postgraduate degrees within the last five years. We seek to increase professional involvement in the policy areas at the state, regional, or federal levels.

Donations to the Frederick Buttel Fund supports initiatives by RSS Research and Interest Groups (RIGs) to enrich the Annual Meeting program by incorporating emerging issues and prospective new RSS members into the program. This fund was named after long-time RSS member, Dr. Frederick G. Buttel.

Donations made to the Diversity Travel Fund are awarded to those who wish to attend the RSS Annual Meeting, but who need financial assistance so they can attend and present their research. The diversity travel award includes a two year membership in the RSS.
